Sure, the cocktail recipe that immediately comes to mind when we are thinking about tequila is the Margarita. However, for National Tequila Day in the British Virgin Islands we are going to celebrate with a fantastically fizzy alternative. La Paloma is a refreshing cocktail recipe that screams summer. We combine smooth, aged tequila with tangy grapefruit soda for a delicious drink made of simple ingredients.
La Paloma
Ingredients:
2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce lime juice
pinch of salt
grapefruit soda OR sparkling water + a splash of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
Directions:
Combine tequila, lime juice, and salt in a tall glass – a Tom Collins glass is ideal. Add ice, slowly top with grapefruit soda, and stir. Grapefruit soda can be difficult to find, but soda water with a splash of grapefruit juice will do.
Cheers to a delicious cocktail recipe in celebration of National Tequila Day in the British Virgin Islands!
